In a BBC report, The UK has created a competition to find the best security & IT experts in the UK for job positions and prizes. The competition has been created to discover the best cyber security professionals. However, the competition has really been created to get more people working in the online security industry. As original IT programmers are beginning to retire, more than ever are security experts needed to keep the internet secure. Contestants are given lines of code which they must crack. In January, the UK will crown it’s very first UK cyber Champion.

The hospitals were fined for failing to secure their patient data. These large fines are a testament to the government’s intervention on data security. Every year hospitals lose patient data due to the loss of laptops or removable storage drives. These recent fines are a warning sign to hospitals and other companies to improve their security practices.
